Two Bethel residents held in bungalow burglaries

Two Bethel residents broke into a string of bungalows before they were arrested Saturday, police said.
Jeremy J. Schultz, 23, and Breanna Von Hegel, 16, face felony burglary charges and misdemeanors of resisting arrest and possession of burglar’s tools, according to police.

State police said they caught the two after they went to check out a report of a burglary in progress.
Troopers set up a perimeter around a seasonal residence, and Department of Environmental Conservation police used a dog to track the suspects into the woods. State police said that’s where they found the loot from the burglaries. Troopers later found Von Hegel and Schultz in a neighboring bungalow colony and arrested them.

State police said the two had broken into numerous bungalows in the area, stealing items such as VHS tapes, cash, clothing and small kitchen appliances.
Schultz and Von Hegel went to Sullivan County Jail, where they each were held on $7,500 bail.
