Four winners to take home Mega Millions $330M jackpot
Four lucky lottery players will share the $330 million Mega Millions jackpot - but it looks like none of them is from New York.
The winning tickets in Friday night’s drawing were sold in New Jersey, Maryland, Texas and Virginia, with each winner expected to scoop up about $82 million.
“We’re in disbelief right now,” said Nick DiRenzo, whose father, Frank, owns Blitz’s Villas Market in Cape May County, where the Jersey ticket was bought. “It’s unbelievable to me. We have really good lottery customers.”
The jackpot was the game’s second-biggest prize, after the $390 million won in March by three ticket-holders in New Jersey and Georgia.
The odds that any ticket would match all five numbers - 8, 18, 22, 40, 44, plus the Mega Ball number 11 - was 1 in 176 million.
No one immediately came forward to claim their winnings.
The lump-sum payout would be more than $48 million after taxes, or about $82 million if the winner receives 26 annual payments.
In Virginia, the winner will not be able to claim the prize until at least Tuesday because lottery offices are closed for the Labor Day weekend.
